Find out more about the BSEArcular project – one of the finalists of the Ocean’s Calling award.

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

“BSEArcular is a project that is the result of an alliance between Epson, SEAQUAL, LCI Barcelona and MAZA Coatelier, which consists of reusing plastics retrieved from the Mediterranean Sea to manufacture fabrics that will later be transformed into fashion designs within the university environment. Finally, since the material of the garments is plastic, once the useful life is over, it can be recycled, closing the circle.”

“Why did you find this award relevant and decide to take part?”

“At Epson, the company’s commitment to the environment and sustainability is one of its pillars. It is one of our ambitions to become crucial to society as a company that can improve the quality of life of people and businesses with increasingly efficient, compact and accurate technologies. We have also adopted the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals as the foundation for our business activities. This partnership is committed to Goal 17 and has resulted in a clear example of how to introduce a circular economy in one of the industries with the greatest impact on the environment: textiles. We believe that such an important, beneficial scheme should be recognised for protecting our oceans, giving a new value to waste, avoiding an increase in production of raw materials and providing access to a circular economy. This is why being part of the Ocean’s Calling nominations is a source of great pride for Epson.”

Stay tuned as we will share, over the next few weeks, more information about all the finalist projects of this initiative.
